So, you've written a book and you want to publish it? Well, of course you do. You didn't write it so that it would sit on your desktop. Whether you decide to self-publish or pursue sending query letters to agents and publishers, I can help you. I've been writing fiction for over a decade and am currently pursuing my MFA in Creative Writing from National University.
I am primarily an author, but after years of writing, reading, and editing fiction, I began to entertain the idea of helping novice authors with their manuscripts. After being approached by friends and strangers about the prospect of looking over their work, I have decided to open up myself to doing content edits, beta-reading, line edits, and proofreading for other authors. I can't make any guarantees about the marketability of your book after I take a look at it, but I CAN and DO guarantee that I will give your manuscript my full attention and provide you with extensive and honest feedback both complimentary and constructive. I will read your work thoroughly and thoughtfully. I will make notes of things that I like, and think that I don't think flow so well. I can check for voice, character development, plot, pacing, and common mistakes like your/you're, affect/effect, further/farther, etc.
I have edited many manuscripts other than my own, many of which went on to get published.
As it says on other pages of my website, I am a published author of four books (pen name Lara Hues) so I know how to be thorough and efficient. I published my work Arrows with Breathless/Lycaon Press. My dystopian middle grade work, Allies of Ignorance, I successfully pitched to Cedar Fort Publishing. I self-published the sequel to Arrows, Archers, and a YA science-fiction entitled Stripes of Gehenna.
I just signed a three-book contract with Aethon Books Publishing Company for my dystopian fairytale retelling . Because I have published with publishing companies and I have self-published, I can also try to answer questions about publishing if you have questions for me about the process.
