This was my first zombie book. I also don't read a lot of historical romance. That being said, I really enjoyed SSAD. It's not very often that I relate to the main character but Eleanor was feisty and fiery and clever and I really liked her.
It wasn't very violent. Nothing raunchy. Descriptions were nice.  This was one of those books that makes you easily forget that someone wrote it. It didn't feel like reading; it felt like being in the story.  It was a fun read and I recommend it to YA and adults alike. 
Yes, I quite liked Dennard's work even though I did predict some of the ending early on.  I shall read more of her books.
